In complete contrast to its title, this “Bloody” Mule is warming, sweet, and delicious. It’s a frightastically magical twist on the classic Moscow Mule. Vodka mixed with a splash of raspberry liquor (Chambord), pomegranate juice, lime, sweet fig jam (or apple butter), candied ginger, and ginger beer. Finish with burning sage for the spookiest October drink. The mocktail variation is also included with the recipe.

I say this with possibly every new cocktail I share, but this deep, dark, spooky Moscow mule is one of my favorites to date. It’s quite unique with an added splash of Chambord, as well as fig jam (or use apple butter). These simple additions create the yummiest version of a mule. I’m so in love with the flavors.

I also added slices of candied ginger for double the amount of gingery spice. This really is delicious!

Notes…

What’s awesome about a Moscow Mule is that it’s one of the least fancy drinks around. A traditional mule is simply vodka mixed with lime and topped with ginger beer. There’s really nothing to it!

Today’s additions can be added as you desire. The must-have ingredients are vodka, pomegranate juice, lime, and ginger beer. Of course, I recommend adding everything else in the recipe, but if this is all you prefer to use, that’s great too!

Here are the details

Step 1: fill a cocktail glass with ice

I used coupe glasses for a fancy, spookier feel. But a traditional Moscow mule mug is perfect too. Or, use your favorite rocks glass.

Step 2: shake it up

In a cocktail shaker – or use a glass jar, shake the vodka, raspberry liquor, pomegranate juice, lime, fig jam, and ginger. Shake to mix. Then add ice and shake until chilled.

Strain into your ice-filled glass or mug.

Step 3: add ginger beer

Pour the ginger beer overtop. Now add a small spoonful of pomegranate arils (seeds). If desired, you can take a couple of fresh sage leaves, burn them, and place them on top.

Itโ€™s an extra finishing touch, but a magical spooky one!

    1. Hi Jennifer,
Love to hear that this recipe was delish! Thanks for making it and your feedback! Have a great weekend!๐Ÿ๐Ÿƒ

This recipe is great! Obv wouldn’t put anything but candied ginger in it as is says in the intro. Treat yourselves and make it for a fun pretty drink thats something different

This is so freaking SLOPPY! Candied ginger looks NOTHING like pickled ginger, and you used pickled ginger in the photo! At least someone was smart enough to remove the hyperlink to pickled ginger in the recipe, but they left the incriminating picture in the post. Howwwwwww do you have over 5 million followers when your recipes are consistently like this? How much money do you pay people to say nice things on Instagram to boost your metrics, without spending a single second trying to be a better chef? It boggles the mind. Absolutely boggles the mind. This will probably get deleted, but Tieghan, you need to get it together. You are taking advantage of your followers and you do not deserve anyoneโ€™s loyalty or dollars.

    1. I think you need to get off the internet if something like this makes you that upset. Guess what? You donโ€™t have to go to this website.

    1. Hi Gwen! So sorry for the confusion, the recipe calls for Candied Ginger not sushi ginger! That was my mistake. xT

    1. Hi Amanda! I’m so sorry for the confusion, the recipe is fixed now! Candied Ginger should be used in this recipe! xT

  3. The picture is pickled sushi ginger. The link in the ingredients is pickled sushi ginger. You know thatโ€™s different from candied ginger right? Pickled sushi ginger would be disgusting in a cocktail. Itโ€™s clear that you donโ€™t eat or drink your creations and havenโ€™t for some time. Your recipes no longer turn out for me. Ever. Iโ€™m sorry but Iโ€™m no longer a fan.

    1. Itโ€™s clearly candied ginger in the video and in the picture. Obviously someone made a mistake in the recipe. Im sure Tieghan knows the difference between the two

      1. Tieghan may know the difference but why does every recipe lately have mistakes? She either needs to fire her current โ€œteamโ€ or if it is her making these mistakes she needs to hire help. I havenโ€™t seen any other food blog with so many errors or mistakes.

Made this tonight and I can see why this is one of your new favorites! It was delicious! Wasnโ€™t sure about the fig jam or the chambord, but they made the cocktail! Only thing I didnโ€™t add was the candied ginger, but Iโ€™m sure it would be delicious with that too. Thank you

    2. Hey there! The link to pickled sushi ginger has been removed. That was a mistake. I apologize for any confusion! You should use candied ginger for this recipe! Thank you! Have a wonderful Sunday! Xx

  4. The recipe calls for candied ginger but the photo (and the hyperlink on the ingredient) indicate it’s pickled ginger, the kind you’d eat with sushi. Which is it?
