nine favorite things

Hello September! We’re entering my favorite time of year, and this year, more than ever before, has so much happening. I can’t wait! As I mentioned last week, it’s going to be a lot of being away from home, promoting new products, and launching the fourth cookbook in November!

I can’t believe this time is actually here. We’ve been planning for so long, like you have no idea, I’m excited to share more soon! This week, I’m back in New York. It’s fashion week and I have a few meetings, work events, and shows I’ll be attending. It’s always such a busy time in New York! This was my dream as a young girl who loved Gossip Girl. Like many young girls, I dreamed of someday attending New York Fashion Week. And now, here I am, doing just that! The fact that I’m living it all out is a little surreal. It’s funny because I never take the time to reflect except when I sit down to write this post each week.

I never would have thought that this is where I would be or what I would be doing, but I feel pretty happy! I need to work on taking more time to appreciate how far I have come. Yes, I still have so many mountains to climb in terms of what I want to do, but I know from experience that it is a slow and steady build. Good things really do take time!

I love that I can sit here like this and just “chat” with you all. What about you? With the fall season ahead of us, what are you looking forward to? It is fun to read the comments and learn more about you and your loves, so please continue to share!

Aside from exciting things with work, I’m looking forward to the things I look forward to every single fall season. The changing of the leaves, autumn apples, pumpkin spice everything, Halloween, holiday decor, reruns of Gilmore Girls, lighting that first fire of the season, making hot chocolate for Asher every night, Halloween movies, and cozy fall baking!

I’m looking forward to celebrating Asher’s birthday when the family returns from Europe. I was so sad I didn’t get to hug her on her 16th birthday. But I’m working on something exciting to celebrate! My mom said she had a nice birthday, and they all went out to dinner!

Ok, okay, and lastly, I want to touch base on the candles. We re-launched the Pumpkin Smash Candle earlier this month. The big candle already sold out, so crazy! Thank you so much to everyone who purchased! It’s been really fun to see everyone burning their candles. We have more coming soon! Plus – something new is launching on September 12th!

And there’s Home Chef, too! This collaboration has been one of my favorites to work on. I LOVE being able to so easily bring our HBH recipe into your homes. Watching you receive your boxes, cook the meals, and hear how you have been enjoying them is the best feeling. It’s so fun to see! Thank you, guys!

Exciting things! I hope everyone is feeling that excitement too!

1. Things iโ€™m loving, wanting, and excited to try.

excited forโ€ฆthe Victoria Secret Fashion Show. The iconic show is back and in its original format! You guys, I grew up looking forward to this show every single season. I loved seeing the holiday looks; they always got me excited for a cozy holiday season. I’m thrilled the show is back! And the classic runway format is back too. It looks so cute – Christmas in New York with Victoria’s Secret!

dreaming of going…Schloss Fuschl. The new hotel reopened it’s doors this June by Rosewood. Located in central Europe, this place looks magical. What a dreamy hotel. Planning a fall trip now.

everything in my cart (low)โ€ฆso many good Labor Day weekend sales. This ruffled chiffon blouse from Mango is very trendy right now. The boho style is back! I love this Bella linenย Reformation skirt. The color is perfect for fall. Or try their Portia dress if all black is more your vibe.

For a jacket, this faux suede jacket at Zara is super cute. When I saw it, I definitely thought it was designer. I also love this leather jacket from Free People.

Speaking of Free People, they have such cute looks for fall. This oversized crewneck is a great cozy fall transitional piece. It comes in so many colors too!

And fun fact about Free People? They actually have a charming home section. Sometimes I find the most random pieces, that I just love! I added this split cup and saucer set to my cart. And this harvest basket! I want to fill it with fall dahlias. So pretty!

traveling…Mallorca Travel Guide, the Island Everyone’s Vacationing. Have you been? I’ve been wanting to go all summer. This guide is super helpful!

reading…Solving Every Travel Problem! All your travel issues/concerns are answered.

lovingโ€ฆEmily in Paris Star Ashley Park’s Closet Tricks Make Staying Organized 10x Simple. Oh my gosh. I love her closet! Someday my office will also be in my closet. That is so fun!

shoppingโ€ฆYour One-Stop Shop for This Year’s Best Labor Day Sales

wanting…a jewelry box. How cute is this? What a great way to keep your jewelry organized. Asher would love this!

listening toโ€ฆTaylor Hill: Grief, Love, and the NEW Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. This is an easy, fun listen. I think Taylor seems like the coolest girl!

everything in my cart (beauty)โ€ฆI love this Cryo De-Puffing Facial Mask from 111Skin. I’ve used this mask for years, and it’s the best after-travel de-puffing mask.

Theย Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics (SPF50+ PA++++) is apparently everyone’s favorite Korean sunscreen.ย Patrick Ta launched two new products, his Major Skin Crรจme Foundation and Finishing Powder Duoย andย Major Skin Crรจme Foundation and Finishing Powder Duo.ย I should try them both!

Thisย Eight-Dayย regenerative serum is an investment, but if you have super dry skin, I have found this really helps my skin when used as the last step of my routine before bed. Lather it on! Or, I’ve seen everyone sharing Clarins’ newest launch, Double Serum Anti-Aging.

I’m ordering the Soft Servicesย Buffing Bar. Try this if you’re looking to reduce bumps on the back of your arms, thighs, and hips, have rough elbows, knees, and heels, or are prepping skin for sunless tan products. I’ve wantedย to try this bar all summer.

And for upcoming travel, the Jet Leg on the Go Set from Summer Fridays.

wantingโ€ฆthis tech organizer to keep cords tidy on the plane and in my bag.

everything in my cart (high)โ€ฆthis cute and cozy striped cashmere pullover from Guest in Residence. And then, this warm blouson jacket from Miu Miu (fall staple piece). And these Fendi slingback heels are just gorgeous. Also very into the new Gucci slim horsebit boot. SO GOOD. I need these. The color is great for fall.

followingโ€ฆthis dopamine menu to boost my mood. Love this idea!

I’m here for all the cozy vibes now that it’s September!

4. Book Tour Questions.

We’ve been working on the book tour for the launch of Quick and Cozy for the last month. I’m excited to share the details with you guys soon! Something so important to me with this tour is to make each event and book signing fun for you all and not just your average meet-and-greet style singing.

We’re working on a few ideas, but I want to ask you all what would make these events/signings special. What would get you so excited?

Please leave any and all ideas in the comments or send me an email. I want to hear from you guys! It’s going to be so fun!

5. Best Facial Tip/Hack.

Something I’ve really been loving so much is this Mint Roller. I keep it in the freezer, then pull it out every night after I do my skincare and roll it all over my face. I mentioned that I’ve been dealing with an allergic rash on my face and neck. This is literally the only thing that has helped soot/heal my skin. Now I look forward to it every night!

It is also so great for travel. I will not leave home without it. The only bummer is most hotel rooms only have a fridge, not a freezer. But it’s still great cold or not. OH! And you can get it hot too and roll it over your skin warm, it feels so nice!

6. Inspiring Me.

Everything on my fall Pinterest board. I’ve been pinning like crazy, I love fall.ย

  1. Guys, calm downโ€ฆ I am no big fan of Tucker Carlson, but for Peteโ€™s sake Teighan probably doesnโ€™t even know who he is โ€” she specifically said someone else sent the interview to her because they thought she would be interested in the person being INTERVIEWED, not the interviewer. And even if she does like Tucker Carlson, there are plenty of leftist food bloggers who have no problem preaching about their beliefs. You canโ€™t handle one food blogger with a diverse view?

    1. Iโ€™d be surprised if any well informed adult who pays the slightest attention to the news doesnโ€™t know who Tucker Carlson is!

Iโ€™m new to the blog, does Tieghan share conservative view points often?

  2. I was very disappointed to see you post a podcast from Tucker Carlson. He pushes dangerous conspiracy theories and lies. He was fired from Fox News because of his lies about the last election being stolen. I had no idea you were maga.
In light of that information, I have canceled my pre-order of your new book and will be donating the rest of your cookbooks to Goodwill.

    1. I happen to like Tucker Carlson. Sorry you were so triggered. If you donโ€™t agree with something, just skip over it. Itโ€™s still a free country, she can post whatever she wants.

  3. How about a book signing stop at Black Rock Books in Bridgeport, CT? Just over an hour outside of NYC. Weโ€™d love to have you in the area and this little spot is adorable!

  4. Some interesting podcast recs today. Are you a fan of Tucker Carlson and his politics and beliefs? With such an important election coming up, seems pointed to share content from someone so divisive at this time.

  5. Happy Sunday, Tieghan! Itโ€™s FINALLY the beginning of Autumn and I can burn my Pumpkin Smash without feeling guilty – LOL! Have a great week!

  6. Do you ever attend or host events in Denver (aside from the potential book signing)? Iโ€™m sure thereโ€™s plenty of opportunity here since you live close by!

    1. Hey Erin,
Yes, there is! I try to do my best and do things locally when I am able to! Thanks so much for asking. Have a nice long weekend! xT

    1. Hey Theo,
Nope! There’s just not much happening at the moment that I really want to share, but I will certainly share the exciting parts! Have a great weekend! xT

  7. Hey Tieghan โ€” thanks for sharing this weekly update as always! Love that you mentioned gossip girl, I was also a major fan back in the day. Read all of the books and then of course religiously watched the show. It made me think of something in terms of your content. Know youโ€™re trying to pivot to become a lifestyle influencer and 99% of the lifestyle influencers I follow at least broach their dating lives. Would love to hear about your dating chronicles โ€” funny dates, bad dates, good dates, etc. When was your last date? When was your last relationship? Those kind of anecdotes feel more human vs. the same old skincare routine or sweater recommendation, for example. Thanks so much for considering!

    1. Hey Jill,
Thanks so much for reading today and your message! Gossip girl is the best right?! Lol I guess I could potentially start to share some of those details once I feel comfortable enough:) Thanks for the suggestion! Have a great weekend! xT

  8. Why do you share pictures from other people’s vacations that you didn’t go on? You say you don’t use your family for content, but you do, you use them for content here and on Instagram. A little transparency and consistency would go a long way.

    1. Iโ€™m curious, Rosie, why does this bother you so much? You are in control of your viewing pleasures. Just skip it and move on.

      1. It bothers her because Tieghan made a very firm statement on โ€œnot using my family for contentโ€, and then she turns around and does that.

      2. People are allowed to question someone if their actions don’t align with their words. If someone monetizes their life by living it out online, he or she knows that there will be questions or comments; to think that everyone will unequivocally love their content is foolish.

    2. I donโ€™t remember her ever saying she NEVER uses her family for content. I believe she likes to use them occasionally. Everyone needs to just relax. Sheesh. Itโ€™s her blog, she can post whatever she wants.

    3. Hey Rosie!
I donโ€™t use my family for content. I share occasionally because I want to and since this is my platform I can pick and choose what to share! But they are not a prominent feature. I am very careful about what I share. That said, Sometimes a video or photo makes me smile so much that I canโ€t help but share it! I donโ€™t think I need to explain that or my process! Thankfully you can choose to read or not read my content so if you donโ€™t enjoy it, I would recommend unsubscribing. Hope you are having a wonderful long weekend!! Happy September!! Xx

      1. Wow! All that because someone asked for clarity on something you have said. Tieghan, you’re always preaching kindness. This response isn’t it. It’s not that hard to make your words and actions match.
You really felt a video of you and your brother talking about a face roller looking like a dildo was worth posting for the world to see? I question if you even understand your process.

  9. Hi I canโ€™t open any of the links
I like the idea of a cooking demo or a tasting of some of the recipes. Come to Boston!!

    1. Hi Fawn,
Thanks so much for reading today! Is there a specific link you can’t open? I just tested a few and didn’t have any issues! So sorry you are having trouble! xT

  10. So excited for the book tour! I would love to hear the behind the scenes of everything-your sources for inspiration, the development and vetting process, and how testing with potential readers works! It’s so fascinating to me, I love a good cookbook! I’d also love to see live cooking demos, maybe even a “surprise” box of ingredients to share how your insanely creative mind works! I love so many of your recipes and am trying to learn how to improvise more in my own cooking.

    1. Hey Ashlynn,
Thanks so much for reading today and your kind message! Thanks for sharing suggestions of what to share when it comes to the cookbook and behind the scenes. I hope you have a great long weekend! xT

  11. Happy Sunday, Tieghan! I look forward to reading the newsletter every week! I am so excited for fall too. My favorite season!
For the book signings, I would love cooking demos of a recipe or two from the book. Also maybe a Q&A where attendees can ask questions. Would be fun to hear some behind the scenes stories of what it was like making the book too!
Oh! This is kind of random, but there was this really pretty red dress you wore this summer, I’m sorry I don’t remember which event it was for. I was hoping you could share the link again! Thank you!

    1. Hi Elizabeth,
Happy Sunday and thanks so much for reading each week! Thanks for sharing your feedback and ideas for the book signings, I think a cooking demo would also be fun! I hope you are enjoying the long weekend! xT

  12. I love fall! From the scents to the colors to the weather I am all in.

Maybe for the book signing an event where you do a cook demo to a room full of folks and they get the signed book with purchase of ticket. Or partnering with one of the companies you enjoy they provide free samples. Thatโ€™s a lot of work though. Or a Ted Talk style on the meaning of cozy and comfort.

    1. Hey Monica,
Yes!! Totally agree with you on that! Ohh that would be a fun idea for the cook demo with the signing, thanks for sharing your ideas! Enjoy the long weekend! xT

  13. Happy Sunday, Tieghan, Gerard fam, and HBH team! I love your fall posts. I have been obsessed with autumn since I can remember. When I was little I was obsessed with the scent of new school supplies and the countdown to trick-or-treating. Now I look forward to baking your five ingredient beer bread and opening up the house to let in that cool, fresh air after the humidity has finally waned. I cannot wait to see your pics from Fashion Week! I just finished watching the SATC movie where the girls all go to Fashion Week in the spring, and I can only imagine how much energy there is! Take tons of pics and have the BEST time! Youโ€™ve earned it, and you absolutely deserve it!

    1. Hey Jen,
Happy Sunday! I love fall, it’s such a cozy time of year:) The beer bread is such a classic recipe, so glad to hear you enjoy it as much as I do! I will definitely share photos from NYC:) Thanks for reading as always! Have a great long weekend! xT
