Today, Iโm sharing my favorite 30 Recipes to Cook in September. This collection pulls from my favorite recipes shared in the month of September over the past 11 years. There are so many great September favorites here! A wonderful, cozy mix of warming drinks, game-day snacks, appetizers, quick dinners, big fall salads, back-to-school-inspired recipes, and plenty of apple recipes! Weโve got a recipe to make each day this month, plus a few extra too!
I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend! It’s, of course, sad to see summer go, but just like every year, I’m the most excited for September. The last few months of the year are the most special in my eyes. In September, we get back into routines. We have more family-style dinners, we bake with apples and pumpkins, and some of us even start to plan for the upcoming holidays!
It’s all so exciting! As the weather cools down, I get into my cozy girl mode. No matter how much I love the warmth and humidity of summer, I can’t help but feel excited for the crisp fall days ahead. This year will be different. I’m traveling a lot for work and looking forward to spending parts of the fall on the East Coast. I can’t wait to see the leaves!
When it comes to cooking in September, I love to focus on seasonal recipes. This month, expect to see many sweet and savory recipes, including autumn squash dinners, big fall salads, lots of crockpot dishes, and maybe even a soup or two! I’ve already started creating recipes for the month ahead, and I cannot wait to share them!
Before we start in on all of September’s new recipes, I’m excited to reshare some of my old. My September recipes are always some of my favorites. Below, I have 30 of the best recipes to make and remake this month and throughout the fall! So much coziness is ahead!
Here are my favorite 30+ recipes to cook in September!

I’m a big fan of HBH and have made countless recipes from your site and books. It looks like the linked caption for a photo in your “Cozy Dinner” sections is not properly linked through the caption which is Creamy Butternut Squash Butter Chicken; the photo looks like a rigatoni pasta (which is the recipe I’m looking for). Please let me know which recipe that is. Thanks!
Thanks so much, Linda!! The link for the recipe is actually under the photo, sorry for any confusion:)

I did some sleuthing because I really wanted that recipe too! It’s this one: https://www.halfbakedharvest.com/butternut-squash-sun-dried-tomato-chicken-pasta/
I wish you would publish a four part/four book cookbook based on the seasons. Your lists of top 30ish recipes of each month are always my favorite emails from you. It would be so fun to have a physical book of your September, October, November favorites in the cookbook-Fall, December, January, and February favorites in the cookbook- Winter, etc. And I bet it make a super cute box set!
Hey Shannon,
Thanks so much for your kind message and sharing this idea, I think it’s great!! Definitely a thought for the future:) Hope you are having a great week! xT
Wow everything on this list looks delicious! Can’t wait to start trying all of the recipes.
Thank you so much, Kerri:) Let me know which recipes you end up trying! Have a great week! xT
Too many ads disrupting the reading flow. I understand ads = money but I like these reads much better when there were fewer ads.
I agree. When you see delish-looking photo, the next question is: Is the recipe in the title immediately above the photo, or is it a page later after the ad. It gets confusing. This is bad placing of the ad, putting it between the photo and the recipe.
WOW!! Everything looks fantastic! Cant’t wait to try these recipes in my home…
Thanks so much, Charlene!! Let me know if you try any of these:) Enjoy the short week! xT
