nine favorite things

Hello September! We’re entering my favorite time of year, and this year, more than ever before, has so much happening. I can’t wait! As I mentioned last week, it’s going to be a lot of being away from home, promoting new products, and launching the fourth cookbook in November!

I can’t believe this time is actually here. We’ve been planning for so long, like you have no idea, I’m excited to share more soon! This week, I’m back in New York. It’s fashion week and I have a few meetings, work events, and shows I’ll be attending. It’s always such a busy time in New York! This was my dream as a young girl who loved Gossip Girl. Like many young girls, I dreamed of someday attending New York Fashion Week. And now, here I am, doing just that! The fact that I’m living it all out is a little surreal. It’s funny because I never take the time to reflect except when I sit down to write this post each week.

I never would have thought that this is where I would be or what I would be doing, but I feel pretty happy! I need to work on taking more time to appreciate how far I have come. Yes, I still have so many mountains to climb in terms of what I want to do, but I know from experience that it is a slow and steady build. Good things really do take time!

I love that I can sit here like this and just “chat” with you all. What about you? With the fall season ahead of us, what are you looking forward to? It is fun to read the comments and learn more about you and your loves, so please continue to share!

Aside from exciting things with work, I’m looking forward to the things I look forward to every single fall season. The changing of the leaves, autumn apples, pumpkin spice everything, Halloween, holiday decor, reruns of Gilmore Girls, lighting that first fire of the season, making hot chocolate for Asher every night, Halloween movies, and cozy fall baking!

I’m looking forward to celebrating Asher’s birthday when the family returns from Europe. I was so sad I didn’t get to hug her on her 16th birthday. But I’m working on something exciting to celebrate! My mom said she had a nice birthday, and they all went out to dinner!

Ok, okay, and lastly, I want to touch base on the candles. We re-launched the Pumpkin Smash Candle earlier this month. The big candle already sold out, so crazy! Thank you so much to everyone who purchased! It’s been really fun to see everyone burning their candles. We have more coming soon! Plus – something new is launching on September 12th!

And there’s Home Chef, too! This collaboration has been one of my favorites to work on. I LOVE being able to so easily bring our HBH recipe into your homes. Watching you receive your boxes, cook the meals, and hear how you have been enjoying them is the best feeling. It’s so fun to see! Thank you, guys!

Exciting things! I hope everyone is feeling that excitement too!

1. Things iโ€™m loving, wanting, and excited to try.

excited forโ€ฆthe Victoria Secret Fashion Show. The iconic show is back and in its original format! You guys, I grew up looking forward to this show every single season. I loved seeing the holiday looks; they always got me excited for a cozy holiday season. I’m thrilled the show is back! And the classic runway format is back too. It looks so cute – Christmas in New York with Victoria’s Secret!

dreaming of going…Schloss Fuschl. The new hotel reopened it’s doors this June by Rosewood. Located in central Europe, this place looks magical. What a dreamy hotel. Planning a fall trip now.

everything in my cart (low)โ€ฆso many good Labor Day weekend sales. This ruffled chiffon blouse from Mango is very trendy right now. The boho style is back! I love this Bella linenย Reformation skirt. The color is perfect for fall. Or try their Portia dress if all black is more your vibe.

For a jacket, this faux suede jacket at Zara is super cute. When I saw it, I definitely thought it was designer. I also love this leather jacket from Free People.

Speaking of Free People, they have such cute looks for fall. This oversized crewneck is a great cozy fall transitional piece. It comes in so many colors too!

And fun fact about Free People? They actually have a charming home section. Sometimes I find the most random pieces, that I just love! I added this split cup and saucer set to my cart. And this harvest basket! I want to fill it with fall dahlias. So pretty!

traveling…Mallorca Travel Guide, the Island Everyone’s Vacationing. Have you been? I’ve been wanting to go all summer. This guide is super helpful!

reading…Solving Every Travel Problem! All your travel issues/concerns are answered.

wanting…a jewelry box. How cute is this? What a great way to keep your jewelry organized. Asher would love this!

listening toโ€ฆTaylor Hill: Grief, Love, and the NEW Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. This is an easy, fun listen. I think Taylor seems like the coolest girl!

everything in my cart (beauty)โ€ฆI love this Cryo De-Puffing Facial Mask from 111Skin. I’ve used this mask for years, and it’s the best after-travel de-puffing mask.

Theย Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics (SPF50+ PA++++) is apparently everyone’s favorite Korean sunscreen.ย Patrick Ta launched two new products, his Major Skin Crรจme Foundation and Finishing Powder Duoย andย Major Skin Crรจme Foundation and Finishing Powder Duo.ย I should try them both!

Thisย Eight-Dayย regenerative serum is an investment, but if you have super dry skin, I have found this really helps my skin when used as the last step of my routine before bed. Lather it on! Or, I’ve seen everyone sharing Clarins’ newest launch, Double Serum Anti-Aging.

I’m ordering the Soft Servicesย Buffing Bar. Try this if you’re looking to reduce bumps on the back of your arms, thighs, and hips, have rough elbows, knees, and heels, or are prepping skin for sunless tan products. I’ve wantedย to try this bar all summer.

And for upcoming travel, the Jet Leg on the Go Set from Summer Fridays.

wantingโ€ฆthis tech organizer to keep cords tidy on the plane and in my bag.

everything in my cart (high)โ€ฆthis cute and cozy striped cashmere pullover from Guest in Residence. And then, this warm blouson jacket from Miu Miu (fall staple piece). And these Fendi slingback heels are just gorgeous. Also very into the new Gucci slim horsebit boot. SO GOOD. I need these. The color is great for fall.

followingโ€ฆthis dopamine menu to boost my mood. Love this idea!

I’m here for all the cozy vibes now that it’s September!

4. Book Tour Questions.

We’ve been working on the book tour for the launch of Quick and Cozy for the last month. I’m excited to share the details with you guys soon! Something so important to me with this tour is to make each event and book signing fun for you all and not just your average meet-and-greet style singing.

We’re working on a few ideas, but I want to ask you all what would make these events/signings special. What would get you so excited?

Please leave any and all ideas in the comments or send me an email. I want to hear from you guys! It’s going to be so fun!

5. Best Facial Tip/Hack.

Something I’ve really been loving so much is this Mint Roller. I keep it in the freezer, then pull it out every night after I do my skincare and roll it all over my face. I mentioned that I’ve been dealing with an allergic rash on my face and neck. This is literally the only thing that has helped soot/heal my skin. Now I look forward to it every night!

It is also so great for travel. I will not leave home without it. The only bummer is most hotel rooms only have a fridge, not a freezer. But it’s still great cold or not. OH! And you can get it hot too and roll it over your skin warm, it feels so nice!

6. Inspiring Me.

  1. I had intended on coming back to convey my disappointment about sharing the Tucker Carlson Show podcast. Instead, I would like to thank you for taking it down. Shows like that are full of mis/disinformation. While there should be healthy skepticism about certain topics (including the pharmaceutical industry, which absolutely gets it wrong sometimes but is not out to get you), Mr. Carlson (and his company) is a leading source of false and incredibly harmful information. It crosses over from healthy skepticism into conspiracy theory territory. With such a large audience and heavy influence, you are responsible for sharing credible information. There is always a risk sharing a link, so vetting things before you post them takes careful consideration. Taking it down was the responsible thing to do, not to mention an intelligent business decision. Above all, it shows respect and caring to your audience.

Knowing that it was something your sister found and shared with you should initiate a pause, as people of any age should be armed with internet literacy and knowledge about gathering information from reliable sources. But especially someone Asher’s age, as she’ll be online more and more as she gets older. Georgetown University has a great checklist to guide people on their journey for healthy and reliable information. I encourage you to read it and go over it with Asher: https://library.georgetown.edu/tutorials/research-guides/evaluating-internet-content

I have an enormous amount of respect for you for doing the right thing. Thank you.

  2. Hey Tieghan:

You should definitely do a book signing at our little family winery near Santa Barbara.

Our barrel room would make a perfect setting and, selfishly, I would be thrilled to host you and your team.

    Think about it……

  3. This nft’s post picture looks so serene and fresh if you get me?! Amazing pictures!
Thanks for your constant work in creating awesome recipes!

  4. Hi Tieghan!

I hope you stop in LA on your tour! I will take off work if I need to! I pre-ordered your 4th cookbook and am SO excited to make every single recipe! On your tour, I think it’d be nice for fans to just have a chance to share their appreciation for your work and creative energy. Because at least for me, finding your content was such a game changer! Now I feel so excited about making food or dessert, I have a reputation for making awesome food, I love the season changes, and I am constantly inspired by your photography! Maybe this is already built into your tour. Anyways, I hope to meet you in person some day!

    Sarah

  5. Hi Tieghan,

Do you have plans to go to the US Open while youโ€™re in NYC? Itโ€™s the ultimate experience, even if youโ€™re not a tennis fan!

    1. Hey Kirsten,
Unfortunately, I do not, but I bet it is amazing! Definitely would love to go some time! Thanks for reading today! xT

  6. Hey Tieghan,

I always love reading your Nine Favorite things on Sunday. That’s great news your finally getting to go to fashion week happy for you. I am excited to hear all about your trip. For as long as I’ve been reading your column I know it’s been a dream of yours. Definitely looking forward to the new cookbook coming out. When you announce where your coming can you please put Arizona on the list?? As far as ideas for the tour what about being able to do live cooking demonstrations with a Q&A?? Sometimes Meet and Greets can in bookstores can be so informal and a rushed affair. It’d be nice to have some type of event where fans can engage in a more personal way with you. Almost like a fan appreciation event of some kind. Lastly, I wanted to say I just love your fashion choices especially your boots. Your dresses and outfits you choose are always so cute. Have a great rest of the Labor Day weekend.

    1. Hey Mike,
I appreciate you reading each week! I know fashion week will be amazing, I can’t wait and will definitely share all about it! I hope you love the new cookbook as much as I do:) I do like the idea of a cooking demo with the book signings, I think that would be a lot of fun. So glad you have been enjoying the clothing content! Have a nice week! xT

  7. Thank you for the content you include every week! I look forward to reading your blog with a cup of tea every Sunday afternoon.

I am especially glad you included the link to the Casey and Calley Means interview with Tucker Carlson. I’ve listened to a couple of other interviews with them and I am currently listening to their book, “Good Energy.”

What a powerful punch of information we all need as we try to live healthy and strong!

    1. Couldn’t agree with you more, Dawn! It was such a powerful podcast everyone should listen to. Or just google them and listen to a different one if you don’t like Tucker Carlson, that’s easy! It’s nice to see a reasonable person in the comments here sometimes.

    2. Hi Dawn,
Thanks so much for reading each week and your kind message:) So glad to hear you have been enjoying these posts! I hope you have a nice short week:) xT

  8. Another fantastic NFT! I am SO ready for Autumn – colors, smells, flavors, temperatures (Lol!), clothes, etc.!

Loved the Everything Cozy for a Fall Home – those Ballard Designs Faux Autumn Gourds!

Also, the list of movies and TV shows streaming this Fall – I needed those lists.

I, too, am in the Denver-Metro area and would love to see our “hometown girl” do a signing here. I think a small “swag bag” giveaway (with items donated from sponsors/collaborators – tiny Snif x HBH Pumpkin Smash candle?) would be super fun at your book signings. I also love the idea of a Q & A if you were up for it, a Home Chef x HBH giveaway, Snif giveaway, etc.

Looking forward to seeing what you find in the way of new (and and tried and true) Fall candles – you always scope out the best stuff!

    1. Hi Nancie,
Happy Labor Day! Yes, so excited for all of the fall things! Glad you enjoyed the movies and shows list. Ohhh love the giveaway idea for the book signing, thanks so much for the suggestion! Have a great day! xT

  9. Hey Tieghan! I would love to see a cooking demonstration or maybe have some appetizers or something that youโ€™ve made passed around? I have friends that went to a meet up for a cookbook author and that person made a whole meal for the guests. Sounds time consuming but my friend had a blast! Iโ€™d be happy to see you in Chicago!! I make a recipe from your site or books at least twice a week!

    1. Hey Susan,
Thanks a lot for reading and sharing your suggestion for the cookbook tour! I think having some appetizers would be an awesome idea:) Will definitely be in Chicago so stay tuned! Happy Labor Day! xT

  10. I love how youโ€™re getting ready for Fall! Itโ€™s such a fun time of year.
When you were saying the mint roller is a must to travel but hotels donโ€™t have freezers Iโ€™m wondering if you keep it in the ice bucket that is usually in the room (obviously with ice). Was just a thought.

Thank you for all your delicious recipes and ideas ๐Ÿ˜Š

    1. Hey Sari,
Thanks for reading today! I love fall, it’s such a cozy time of year, so I’m glad you enjoyed the inspiration today:) That’s a good idea for the roller, I usually just keep it in a mini fridge and that works well! Happy Labor Day! xx

  11. Also, I really loved listening to the interview with Callie and Casey Meansโ€”I had heard the interview was really good, but honestly probably wouldnโ€™t have sat down and listened to it until you posted it ๐Ÿ˜‚ So thanks for that final push! What an appropriate topic for everyone to hear regardless of viewpoint.

    1. Where did the link to the Casey and Calley interview go? I came back here to find it and now I canโ€™t find it! Help!

  12. Thanks so much for the awesome post today. Your fall content is so inspiring. I always really appreciate your recipes this time of year, so spot on and makes me want to get back in the kitchen and create good food for family and friends. I hope you can overlook the negative stuff and see how much happiness and smiles you bring to thousands of dining room tables every day. You create recipes, and it results in so much love and joy for others.

    1. Hi Kerri,
Thanks so much for reading! Love to hear you enjoy the fall content as much as I do:) Let me know if you try any recipes soon! Have a great Labor Day! xT

  13. โ€œIt is fun to read the comments and learn more about you and your loves, so please continue to share!โ€

Okay – I love when people take their jobs seriously, listen and understand the feedback from the community that supports them, and isnโ€™t afraid to be vulnerable when they make mistakes. I would love all this for you, too.
